8610756. . . I can still remember my McMaster University Student Number.
31 years ago, this month, I started at McMaster in the Faculty of Social Sciences about to embark on an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geography.
Since graduating in 1990, I’ve been back on campus only a handful of times. The most memorable visit came just after the birth of my daughter, Madison, at the McMaster University Medical Centre (MUMC), in 2002. I bought her a class of 20?? T-shirt.
My wife and I set off today for a visit to McMaster, our Alma Mater, for the annual Homecoming festivities. We are both MAC grads. Although our individual times at McMaster overlapped for a few years in the late 80s, we never knew each other during our time there.
We weren’t quite sure what to expect. Wow! What a trip down Memory Lane.
From our first steps toward campus from our parking spot, through 4 quarters of football, beyond the post victory fireworks, and our post game stroll around campus, it was an afternoon to remember. The weather was perfect for our visit to Ron Joyce Stadium as we enjoyed sunny skies and a cool breeze.
When it was all over, the McMaster Marauders made the Homecoming crowd very happy with a 32-2 victory over the visiting York University Lions.
After the game, It was great to get back onto campus and wander around the quads and between the old buildings.
In my four years at McMaster, I learned a lot about myself, set and achieved many goals and met a bunch of great people along the way.
It was great to be back.
